The Impact of Girltrek

GirlTrek has become one of the most effective public health interventions in the country.

In our most recent member survey (2019):

  • 61% of Black women lost weight

  • 90% experienced fewer symptoms of depression

  • 28% were prescribed less medication that year than previous years

  • 59% walk daily at life-saving levels (According to the CDC, 5 days per week for 30 minutes)

  • 56% have sustained a habit of daily walking for more than one year

This impact was achieved in just 10 years. As GirlTrek looks to the next 10 years, we seek to sustain and scale behavior change and we will boldly venture into advocating for, and institutionalizing systems change.
